Host Monster is really good., 2008-08-05

Considering the low price you pay, Host Monster is really good. You get a server that is reliable (it hasn't let me down yet), the customer support is cheery and helpful and the price well, the price is great. I really cant see me being able to go anywhere else and get a better deal for the price I'd be willing to pay. So I won't. I'm going to stay where I am and make Host Monster the site for all my web hosting needs.

Server problems, 2008-08-05

The only excuse I ever get from Host Monster is server problems If the email system is down for hours on end, it is the fault of the server. If the websites are going down and won't be active for the best part of the day, it's a server problem. Yet, they never seem able to stop these server problems or go about trying to fix them. A bit more communication would go a long way from Host Monster.

The live chat facility offered by Host Monster works really well and you get staff that wants to help you out. Some web hosts just put sales staff on these facilities in an attempt to get more sales but the Host Monster people seem to know their stuff. They certainly know a lot more than me and as long as that remains the case then happy days! They take their time in explaining everything and it feels good to work through a problem with them.

Poor service, 2008-08-05

Trying to phone the support from an overseas number is a nightmare. I don't know if it is any better for US citizens but over here in Britain it is no fun. Trying to get through to Host Monster is a very hard task and the email support is even worse. It can take days to get a reply and by that time I've probably lost any visitors and its not worth bothering about trying to fix the problem.

I don't have much to say about Host Monster but they do seem a really good hosting company. I was particularly impressed with the shared linux hosting plans they are able to offer. I cant recall any periods of downtime in the year that I have been with and likewise, I have had no reliability or security scares. That's all that I am looking for in a web host so its fair to say that Host Monster get the thumbs up from me!
